The staff at Hoyas Rising will connect an interested party with Georgetown University student-athletes, provide marketing, promotional and logistical support and ensure compliance with NCAA and Georgetown University guidelines.

Yes. While fans have been conditioned for years to understand that paying student-athletes is prohibited, student-athletes can now be compensated for the use of their name, image and likeness. Georgetown University and its athletic department staffers are barred from creating NIL opportunities for Georgetown University student-athletes or facilitating them. This is where Hoyas Rising will step in and do what the University or any of its affiliates are not allowed to do.

No, Hoyas Rising is a stand-alone For Profit under Delaware state law. It is independent of the University. However, like the University, its mission is to serve the University and its students.

Since July 2021, the NCAA has allowed college student-athletes to benefit from their name, image, and likeness in a manner consistent with applicable laws and regulations. Federal NIL legislation has been introduced but not yet passed by Congress. NCAA rules and penalties around avoiding “pay-for-play” scenarios and improper inducements to student-athletes tied to choosing to attend a particular university remain in effect.

Student-athletes competing in NCAA intercollegiate athletics are permitted to receive compensation for the use of their name, image or likeness for commercial activities, including endorsements through traditional and social media, appearances, entrepreneurial activities, in-kind deals, autographs and more, in accordance with NCAA guidelines (including, among other things, prohibitions on improper recruiting inducements and pay-for-play), Georgetown University NIL policies and procedures, and applicable laws.

Hoyas Rising expects there will be a wide variety of NIL opportunities available for Georgetown University student-athletes, including personal appearances, meet and greets, social media promotions, autograph sessions, media interviews, etc.

By signing up with Hoyas Rising, a student-athlete indicates that he or she is interested in participating in NIL opportunities that will be arranged and facilitated by Hoyas Rising. There is no fee to sign up and participation in the collaborative is opt-in. Please remember that Hoyas Rising is committed to serve Georgetown University student-athletes across all sports.
